The 379 AEW/CAOC CGOC continues to participate actively in base events in our small part of Southwest Asia. On 19 June, they collaborated with the 901 EAW British RAF officers to facilitate the British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association (BLESMA) Half-marathon. The very next week the CGOC was visible again in the 379 ESVS Sponsored Walk/Swim biathlon. 23 Company Grade Officers volunteered to register participants, oversee lap counting, and marshal runners for the two events. Over 30 CGOs contributed their personal time and funds to run the Five-Kilometer BLESMA and/or the Services biathlon. Captain Charissa Delion of the 340 EARS remarked, "The Biathlon was a fun way to get spend some off-duty hours and exercise competitively. I met a bunch of CGOs that I never would have interacted with otherwise." Coalition partners from Australia and Singapore also participated in these truly international events. The BLESMA rose over $3000 dollars for our Allies' veterans. The positive image set by the 379 AEW/CAOC CGOC served to strengthen international friendships, garner new members for the council, and further build the CGOCs reputation here at the Undisclosed Location.
