Welcome, Ann Lentell, CFA, AFC\u00ae, CFP\u00ae <\/b><\/span><\/h3>

My Work:<\/strong> My work is to end asset poverty for families with low incomes and narrow the racial and gender wealth divides.<\/p>

My Roots:<\/strong> Radio reminds me of my home far away \u2013 West Virginia.<\/p>

My Passion:<\/strong> Asset-building.<\/p>

My Favorite Quote:<\/strong> Do you want to be comfortable, or do you want to grow? Because you can\u2019t do both.<\/p>

My Reason for Serving on the AFCPE Board of Directors:<\/strong> I love the AFCPE because of what it stands for \u2013 ensuring that all people, regardless of income or background, are empowered to achieve lasting financial well-being. I currently serve as Chief Program Officer for a nonprofit, Compass Working Capital, where I lead a team of financial coaches who serve primarily Black and Latinx women with low incomes across the country. As an Accredited Financial Counselor myself, I know how much our clients need trusted, quality financial education and counseling, and I hope to bring that perspective in my service to the board.<\/p>

My Advice for Someone Beginning the Journey of Financial Education\/Well-being:<\/strong> No matter where you are in your journey \u2013 whether you\u2019re just starting out, deep in a financial crisis, or on your way to financial freedom \u2013 just the fact that you have taken a step to pay attention to your finances means you\u2019ve already succeeded. Things don\u2019t move in a straight line \u2013 they move up and down and backward and forward and all sorts of ways. Don\u2019t get discouraged. The worst thing you can do is stick your head in the sand. Focus on what you\u2019ve already accomplished and build on those strengths. Just by showing an interest in your financial well-being means you\u2019re already a triumph.<\/p>

My Reason for Serving on the AFCPE Board of Directors: <\/b>I want to be a connector for AFCPE \u2013 whether that\u2019s getting students move involved in our association, bridge the gap between financial advisors, counselors and therapists, examining technology solutions for financial counselors, as well as creating stronger bonds between all of our different constituencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

My Advice for Someone Beginning the Journey of Financial Education\/Well-being: <\/b>Become a sponge! Learn all that you can, but also remember to reflect on your knowledge, and use it in your own life too! Also, every member of AFCPE is warm and welcoming. If you want to connect and learn from someone, don\u2019t hesitate to ask for a quick chat.<\/span>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

Welcome, Andia Dinesen, AFC\u00ae<\/b><\/span><\/h3>

My Work: <\/strong>I work for the Association of Military Banks of America, a trade association for military banks that are located both on and off installations serving military and veteran families.<\/p>

My Roots: <\/strong>I have been married to the military for more than 22 years and have moved 11 times, living in 13 different homes.<\/p>

My Passion:\u00a0<\/strong>Serving the military and veteran families and communities who have dedicated their lives to serving our country.<\/p>

My Reason for Serving on the AFCPE Board of Directors: <\/strong>Being a part of the AFCPE community for the past 12 years has brought me professional growth, an extended family, and a focused way to serve military families. Serving on the AFCPE Board of Directors is a way for me to give back and further the mission of AFCPE.<\/p>

My Advice for Someone Beginning the Journey of Financial Education\/Well-being: <\/strong>Sometimes financial education does not offer a clear career path, but that can also be the amazing thing about it, you can make it what you want it to be. Also, never stop learning. Read more, ask others about books, materials, and tools they love and then check them out for yourself.<\/p>

My Work: <\/strong>I work with primarily law students who are trying to navigate not only repaying their student loan debt but trying to learn how to live their best lives within the means that are available to them.<\/p>

My Roots<\/strong>: My work in human resources helped me realize that many individuals struggle with money, regardless of educational attainment or salary level, and that there is a lot of personal and social shame needlessly associated with that.<\/p>

My Passion: <\/strong>I am on a mission to get individuals excited about learning & using that knowledge to make a positive impact in their lives.<\/p>

My Favorite Quote: <\/strong>This applies to both presentations as well as educational sessions. \u201cHave the confidence to pull it off, but have the humility to prepare.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

My Reason for Serving on the AFCPE Board of Directors: <\/strong>I believe that AFPCE today is at the optimal position to become a major leader as our nation finally openly grapples with issues relating to personal finance. Although we are becoming more comfortable having conversations about race and gender, we still don\u2019t feel comfortable addressing \u2018class\u2019, financial inequity, and other issues relating to money. We can be the facilitator of that national conversation and help mitigate the national contradiction of being one of the world\u2019s wealthiest nations, and at the same time possessing on of the fasted-growing poverty rates.<\/p>

My Advice for Someone Going Through the AFC\u00ae Program: <\/strong>Throughout your life, you will have undoubtedly learned quite a bit about finances, in particular since you are getting ready to become an AFC. My advice is to pre-test yourself\u2014identify what you know already, and then focus on studying and learning what you don\u2019t know.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
